Sanquelim Bridge

Salvage of Sanquelim Bridge

This bridge across the Sanquelim river was blown up by the erstwhile Portuguese rulers during Goa's liberation in 1961. The span of the bridge, weighing over 200 tones, collapsed. This entire span was lifted in one piece to its original position and supporting pillars rebuilt under it. The bridge is completely intact and open to heavy vehicular traffic to date.
